Obituary of Walter T. Barker III

Walter T Barker, III Barnard, VT It is with deep sadness we announce the unexpected passing of Walter T Barker, III, with his family by his side. He resided in Barnard, VT, and shared 32 years with his beloved, Linda Schwartz, who passed away in 2019. He leaves behind two sons, Colin Barker of Providence, RI and Blake Barker (Gabrielle) of Port St. John, FL., along with three grandchildren Vanessa, Anastaysia and Beckett also of Port St. John. Walter was born in New Haven, CT on March 13, 1951, the son of the late Walter T Barker Jr. and Theodora R. Barker. He is survived by two sisters, Martha J. Brown (Richard) of Branford, CT., Diane Carpenter (Robert) of Madison, CT., and brother, William Barker (Lisa) of East Haven, CT. Walt truly loved the outdoors and before starting a family he took a bicycle trip cross country and returned to settle in VT in a bus along the Appalachian trail. Walt was a true giver, to family, friend, and stranger. Helping others was a way of life for Walt. He loved to work with his hands, from intricate carpentry to building of homes. He was known to keep a vehicle running well after its life span. He was a collector of various items, finding difficulty in disposing, if it may have future value. He often found peace in hiking and cycling with friends and family, and always enjoyed road trips. He was a loving dad and cared for his family deeply. He brought them to visit his CT family often, we have many great memories of his visits. We will miss his interesting, honest, witty and kind character deeply.
