Obituary of Joan Rascati

Joan (Casella) Rascati, 87 of Branford passed away June 6, 2024 at Ct Hospice after a short illness. She was born in October 1936 in Brooklyn NY to the late Nicholas and Josephine (Alfieri) Casella. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Aldo Rascati and their three children; Ronald Rascati of Branford, Catherine Rascati (Doug Payne) of Branford and Richard Rascati (Jamie Cote) of East Haven along with numerous nieces/nephews. Joan was born and raised in Brooklyn and graduated high school in 1954 from Washington Irving in NYC. In 1958, Joan married Aldo and then relocated to East Haven in 1963. They raised their family in East Haven until they moved to Branford in 2002. She was a devoted Catholic, member of the Ladies Guild, a former parishioner at St. Clare Church and a member of St. John Bosco Parish in Branford. She received her Associate Degree at South Central Community College in Human Services and worked as a Community Skills manager for 19 years. Joan enjoyed traveling, cooking, entertaining on holidays and spending time with her husband, family and friends. She touched everyone she came in contact with; she will be missed by all. Family will receive friends on Saturday June 8, 2024 from 9 – 10:30 AM at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Her funeral procession will then leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a 11 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford. The Rascati family would like to thank and express their gratitude to all the doctors, nurses and staff at Yale New Haven Hospital and Connecticut Hospice in Branford for their kind and compassionate care.
