John DaCosta, 74 of East Haven passed away May 21, 2024 at Gardner Heights in Shelton. He was born April 10, 1950 in New Haven to John and Bernice (Hanley) DaCosta. John is survived by his numerous nieces/nephews who he adored; Thomas DaCosta Jr. (Amy), Jason DaCosta (Julie), Daniel DaCosta (Starr), Emily DaCosta and Jack DaCosta. He is also survived by his four great nephews/niece; Patrick DaCosta, Ryan DaCosta, Charles DaCosta and Nora DaCosta, a sister-in-law, Diane (Yanicky) DaCosta and a dear friend, Karen Jurczyk.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Thomas DaCosta Sr. and Joseph DaCosta and a nephew, Jeffrey LeBlanc.
John was an avid swimmer and tennis player who loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends, especially the family outings. He was a former member of the Branford Elks and retired logistics manager from XPO, a freight transportation company.
Family will receive friends on Friday May 31, 2024 from 4 PM until the time of service at 6:30 PM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven CT. Burial will be a later date in St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford with his parents.
