Obituary of Nicholas Gabrielli

Nicholas Andrew Gabrielli, 102 of East Haven, formerly of Orange, passed away on April 12, 2024 at St. Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital. He was born November 28, 1921 in New Haven to Luigi and Antonia (Giulietti) Gabrielli. Nick is survived by his two devoted daughters; Patricia Gabrielli of Guilford and Judith Pospesil (Edward) of Guilford along with one granddaughter, Cara Pospesil. Nick is also survived by his sister, Caroline Scorel of West Haven, a nephew, Ernie Scorel (Patricia) and two nieces, Karen Scorel and JoAnn Gallahan (John) and his long-time family friend, Dave DeRosa.
Nicholas is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 80 years, Carmella “Millie” (Ansaldo) Gabrielli (2023) and a brother-in-law, Ernie Scorel.
Nicholas was a US Navy veteran of WWII, as a member of the Seabees, serving in both Europe and the Pacific. He was married for over 80 years, with the passing of his wife back in December of 2023. They enjoyed trips to Europe, their 28 day trip across America, taking cruises and spending the winters in Florida. When not with his family, Nick enjoyed his annual hunting trips to Maine and fishing adventures. He was a lifelong member of the Marchegiana Society and the Marchegiana Sportsman’s Club.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday April 16, 2024 from 9 to 10:30 AM at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. His funeral procession will then leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home for a 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal and US Navy Military Honors to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford CT 06405 in memory of Nicholas Gabrielli.
