Obituary of Josephine Cipollini
Please share a memory of Josephine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Josephine Mary Cipollini, age 98, passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
She is preceded in death by parents, John and Christine Pella; husband, Ned Joseph; son, Ned Emidio; and sister, Marie Rascati.
Jo is survived by her devoted daughter, Christine Tompkins; loving grandchildren, Ned, Benjamin, Matthew and James Cipollini and Stephanie and Paul Tompkins; eight precious great-grandchildren; kid sister, Helen Cuddy; sister-in-law, Joan Cipollini; current daughter-in-law, Arleen Cipollini; former daughter-in-law, Patricia Cipollini; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jo exemplified Ephesians 2:10 by living out her life in selfless service to everyone she met. It was not for any personal gain, but as a consequence she was loved by everyone in return. She had always wanted to be a nurse and fulfilled that desire in 1969 when she graduated from LPN school. She spent the next fifteen years until her retirement on the Coronary Care floor of St. Raphael Hospital in New Haven, Connecticut. Post retirement, she was active volunteering in her church, the local Food Bank, Adult Day Care Center, and bowled in a league.
Special thanks are given to the staff at the Hawthorn House Assisted Living Facility in Shalimar, Florida, where Jo resided the last three years of her life. Their care was exceptional. Jo’s time there was very independent until her final three months when she needed more nursing support. Thanks also to Emerald Coast Hospice for their superb care the last month of her life at Hawthorn House and to the Westwood Nursing Home for their attentive care the last two days of her life.
Family will receive friends on Saturday October 15, 2022 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven from 8:30 to 10:15 A.M. at which time her funeral procession will leave for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at the Church of St. Vincent de Paul, 80 Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at St. Mary Cemetery, Hamden CT. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Hawthorn House at www.afev.us or Emerald Coast Hospice in memory of Josephine Cipollini.
