PS: I know how you liked to talk Italian with me (and also a bit of Florentine slang, that’s why I wrote in Italian sure that you are reading my comment !!

Dear Bunny and family,
I first talked to Anthony after urging him to digitalize his recordings, to preserve them forever. The recordings in The North End were done in 1980, I believe. In the late 90s and he did digitalize them! Because of that I now can enjoy the hour long recording he made of my grandfather, who was a North End fisherman. We had been working on the "fisherman chapter" in the book for nearly 4 years. On and off he had been guiding me with my stories of my grandfather. And as of late he was helping me structure it, so I could get it ready for a publisher. He had a heart of gold and was always concerned about my mother. He said keep getting those stories from her. And that is what I am doing Anthony. Rest in peace my friend. You will not be forgotten. I promise.

Dear Bunny and family,
When I first met Anthony we became instant soul brothers because of shared love for our Italian American heritage. It was such a joy for me to have someone like him that we could relate to things we loved and cared about. The North End, our families, and our Italian roots. When I first became familiar with Anthony's works , I knew there was nothing that was comparable to what he wrote or displayed from his archival collections of the neighborhoods. I must have watched at least 5 of his presentations and always marveled at his passionate story telling as he brought you along with him on this personal journey. The most fun we had together is when we walked the streets of the North End to takes photos of what would become this was then and this now collection. The endless personal stories we shared about our families were so familiar and similar. Thank you Anthony for your friendship and the many gifts you have left for us all to keep enjoying as it will live on forever.

Bunny and Allen, Carolyn and I are terribly sorry to read of Anthony's passing. I first met Anthony when you were living in North Branford, and I helped him put up the basketball hoop at you house on North St. From that time, we became fast friends. He interviewed my aunt for his first book on New Haven, and he later took the photos for our wedding in 2017. I later donated to his bike ride from the Westbrook Elks over the summer. We will miss him terribly, and wish the best for you.

I first met Anthony after cold calling him to do an interview for my podcast. As we share the same passion for our Italian American Heritage we became good friends and we were working on several projects. Anthony inspired me to start up my book project and would take time out of his busy schedule to mentor me whenever I asked. He will be missed by the entire Italian American community. RIP my friend.

We love Tony more than words can express and are heartbroken and shocked by his soul’s departure for his next adventure. He fundamentally shaped my life and affected who I am today, which I am forever grateful for. Tony’s life was of service, always wanting to listen, capture, and learn from the experiences of others. I know in my heart that he is in the great beyond, already collecting new stories, exploring new roads on his bike, basking in the sun, learning new recipes and loving and laughing with those in his company. There is a gaping hole in this world that opened because of his passing. Until we meet again, Tony, thank you for the life that you lived and for the impact that you had in my life, my family’s life and in the world. We love you! -Ellen and Luis Solis
