My condolences to Mrs. Mrowka's family. She was a wonderful woman.
I must tell everyone that Mrs. Mrowka was my high school mother. She watched over me. As a student at Hillhouse, besides the cafeteria, the library was my favorite place. I was an average student that realized that the library was a great place and with Mrs. Mrowka it was even better. She encouraged, supported, and taught me (and others) that the Hillhouse library was a safe place of refuge and self-learning.
Over the my many years as an educator, school based, and central office administrator - in New Haven, I would often think fondly of my time at James Hillhouse. Sometimes I would wonder how I made it through those difficult years (1966 to 70). There were three adults at Hillhouse that supported me (and I'm sure many others) and Mrs. Mrowka was one of them.
God Bless you, Mrs. Mrowka you are a permanent wonderful memory of my life. Thank you
