Richard C. Lavorgna 73 of Westbrook passed away May 14, 2021 at the VA Hospital in West Haven. He was born August 1, 1947 in New Haven to Pasquale and Shirley (Johnson) Florio. Richard is survived by his sister, Barbara Jo Scherb (widow of Robert) of Wallingford and two nephews, Robert Scherb Jr. and Steven Scherb both of Wallingford. He is also survived by his grand nephews/niece, Derek Scherb, Daytona Scherb and Steven Scherb II. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Paul Lavorgna and a sister, Jyoti Florio Robinson.
Richard was a proud USMC veteran on the Vietnam War serving two tours. He was owner and operator of Starshine in Westbrook CT, which made custom wooden toys. He retired from the US Postal Service with over 20 years of service.
A private graveside service with Full Military Honors will be held in East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven. Funeral services are under the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CT State Fraternal Order of Police, 800 Village Walk, Guilford CT 06437 in memory of Richard “Lucky” Lavorgna.
