Joseph Larocque Jr. 94, of Branford, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2020 at Genesis Health Care in Wallingford. Joseph was born on July 2, 1925 in Providence, to Joseph and Georgina (Dragon) Larocque. Joseph is survived by his children; Hubert Larocque (Rosalie) of CA, Bruce Larocque (Liz) of Stratford, Wayne Larocque of Nevada, Joseph “Buddy” Larocque (Bridget) of CA, Gayle Cuomo (Rich) of West Haven, Ronnie Larocque of North Branford, Renee Cowan (Dave) of North Haven and daughter-in-law, Katina Larson of TX. Joseph is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents, wife Gertrude (Knowlton) Larocque (2016), son; Jimmy Larson and three siblings; Raymond Larocque, Eugene Larocque and Claire Medeiros. Joseph was a World War II veteran who served proudly in the United States Navy where he had the position as Coxswain. He worked at Electric Boat in Groton and was a master craftsman, cabinet maker, builder; who built houses from coast to coast. He was in the Masons and a Boy Scout leader for many years. He served in many capacities at the First Congregational Church in Branford. He had numerous hobbies, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Joseph’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Quinnipiac Valley Center who took the utmost care of him for the last 3 years. A Memorial Service and Military Honors will be held at the First Congregational Church, 1009 Main Street in Branford at a later date. Funeral services are in the care of the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
