Obituary of Phyllis Nutile

Phyllis (Perillo) Nutile 78 of East Haven passed away peacefully at Talmadge Park on January 17, 2019. She was born March 30, 1940 in New Haven to Phillip and Rose (Caprio) Perillo.  Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of over 46 years, William Nutile and children, Jennifer Coyne (Michael) and Tara Longley (Michael) both of North Branford along with three grandchildren, Marc Nutile, Connor Coyne and Preslie Longley.  She is also survived her siblings, Rosalie LaChat of East Haven and Richard Perillo (Anna) of Wallingford and a sister-in-law Linda DeRosa of New Haven as well as numerous nieces/nephews. Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Joseph Perillo and Robert Perillo and a sister, Susie Iannotti.

In addition to being the family matriarch, Phyllis was a very intelligent, kind loving individual who worked diligently to complete many years of higher education including a Masters and a 6^th year degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Phyllis had a successful career of over 30 years as an elementary school teacher for the Wallingford Board of Education. Phyllis and William’s ultimate family goal was to see Jenn and Tara have successful careers, families and to always be there for each other. They meant the world to her and she was very proud of their accomplishments. For over 25 years, Phyllis had lived with and battled Parkinson’s disease while always striving to never let it consume her or make it her true identity. The family would like to thank the staff of Talmadge Park for the loving care and compassion they gave Phyllis throughout the years and her final moments before crossing and becoming whole once again.  

Family will receive friends from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
