Obituary of Jeanne Flynn
Jeanne Margaret Flynn 77, of East Haven, passed away peacefully on November 14 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a brief illness. She was cared for by her close friends and loving family. A native of Fair Haven, Jeanne was born on November 17, 1940 the daughter of John and Mary (Sullivan) Flynn and was the fourth of five children. As a teen, Jeanne contributed to the family by holding a few unusual jobs, including a brief stint as a caped “aspergum” girl at the Hamden Plaza, which provided material for a story repeated throughout her life. Jeanne graduated Wilbur Cross High School in 1958 and received her teaching degree from Southern Connecticut State College in 1962. Over the next 33 years, she was a second grade teacher at the Hamden Public Schools. Jeanne was an avid reader, a dedicated NYT crossword puzzler, a lover of geography, politics, World War II history, and the color navy blue. She loved to travel and beginning in her early 20’s had visited places around the world. She was also the kindest, most tender and loving aunt, whose generosity and sweet support was unfailing. She loved life and faced difficulty head on. Jeanne was predeceased by her sister, Maureen Flynn Klarman, and her brothers, John Flynn, William Flynn, and Robert Flynn. She is survived by niece Katherine Klarman (Billy Porto) of East Haven, nephews Harry Klarman (Suzanne) of Cheshire and Robert Flynn of New Haven. She is survived by many other loving nieces and nephews, Jack Flynn (Madelin) of Florida, Michael Flynn (Myra) of California, Martin Flynn (Jodi) of Virginia and Rita Flynn (Patrick Greene) of Louisiana. She is also survived by dear friends and cousins, many of whom have remained together throughout their lives. We will miss you, dear Jeannie.
Family will receive friends from 2- 5 p.m. on Sunday November 18, 2018 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven and again on Monday, November 19 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. in Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home.
