Obituary of Joanne Bauman
Joanne Bauman 79, of Westbrook, formerly of Cheshire, passed away September 3, 2018 at CT Hospice. She was born August 22, 1939 in New Haven to William and Marie (Derbacher) Lloyd. Joanne is survived by her three loving children, Roger Bauman (Sheridan) of Westbrook, Eric Bauman of Alma, CO, and Carrie Dessureau (Mark) of Waterbury VT along with five grandchildren, Avery, Ingrid and Carolyn Bauman, and Ryan and Eric Dessureau. She is also survived by her siblings, Major William H. Lloyd Jr. (ret. USAF) of Holyoke MA, Roberta Minuit of East Haven and Elise Sivula (Eric) of Troupe, TX. Joanne is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Roger Bauman (2003).
Joanne met Roger while they were working at SNET, they fell in love and upon returning from being deployed overseas with the Air National Guard they were married in October of 1962. They moved from North Haven to Cheshire and raised three children on Greenwood Drive. Once the children were in school, Joanne became a receptionist at Dr. Crowell’s dental office in Hamden and then a sales associate at JCPenney in Meriden. She loved to cook, she loved everything about family, her close friends and her pets. Joanne’s kitchen was her special place and she shared her love through cooking and baking. Joanne’s pies at Thanksgiving were picture perfect apple, french apple and pumpkin with crusts made from scratch and apples from our favorite orchards. For several years she baked dozens of pies at Thanksgiving for a New Haven soup kitchen. Her Christmas cookies were a much-anticipated gift during the holidays. She packed dozens of tins with home baked cookies and shared them with friends and family. She loved being a grandma and after Roger passed away Joanne moved from Cheshire to Westbrook to be closer to her family and help with recently born grandchildren. She enjoyed reading to them, going to her grandchildren’s music recitals and most importantly the holidays with her family.
Family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
