Obituary of Susan H. Nelson

Susan H. Nelson 63 of East Haven passed away peacefully on July 15, 2018 at CT Hospice in Branford. She was born November 13, 1954 in New Haven to the late Salvatore and Helen (Wilson) Quagliano. Susan is survived by her loving husband of over 41 years, James Nelson and a daughter, Jamie Nelson of East Haven. She is also survived by sisters, Nancy Perez and Sally Morin and a brother, Thomas Quagliano (Kim Shea) all of New Haven along with nephews, Ryan and Thomas and a niece, Maria.

Throughout her 39 years of service within the Student Financial Services Center at Yale University, Sue helped countless students and their families. Always willing to lend a helping hand, her caring and loving personality helped her foster and create an extended family going beyond the walls of the university. She befriended humans and every four-legged fur baby that crossed her path. Sue was a devoted mother to her own furry daughter, Nessa Rose. An avid Dunkin Donuts drinker, she also had a fondness for road trips and shopping. Throughout her courageous battle with cancer, she extended her family further with the staff of Angels she encountered at Smilow.

Family will receive friends from 8 a.m. until the time of service at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
