Obituary of Julia Russo
Julia Russo, long- time resident of East Haven, passed away May 3, 2018 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born August 4, 1928 in New Haven, CT to John and Margaret (Mongillo) Amodio and graduated from Stones Business School after attending catholic high school. Julia went on to work for 35 years at the New Haven Register in the classified ad department. Julia was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother (Nonie) who enjoyed spending time with her family. She retired early to spend time with her three grandchildren. Julia also loved cooking for everyone as well as taking pride in cleaning her home. Julia is survived by her loving daughter, Joanne Preneta (David) of Branford, three grandchildren, Justin Opotzner (Sarah Morehouse), Cheryl Magee (Bryan), Eric Preneta, one great granddaughter, Kylie Magee and her brother, Domenic Amodio of East Haven. She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Linda Opotzner and brother, Peter Amodio.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 from 9:00 – 10:40 a.m. at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home at 10:45 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
