Obituary
Obituary of Stanley P. Puzycki
Please share a memory of Stanley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stanley P. Puzycki passed away shortly after midnight on December 16, 2010 after a long and
courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the loving arms of his wife, Dianne Doyle
Puzycki, of more than 54 years and his five sons: Paul and wife Jane Holt, Ted and wife Denise, Greg and fiancé Deborah Rizzo, John and wife Susan and Brian and wife Christa. Dianne, a
hospice nurse of more than 35 years, cared for Stanley with love and compassion each and every
day. In addition to his children, he was comforted as he left this world by many of his extended
family members. Also survived by two brothers, Joseph and Edward Puzycki. His legacy and name will be carried on by his twelve grandchildren.
Stanley spent his entire life in the New Haven area; he was a graduate of Hillhouse High School
and Southern Connecticut State University with a B.S. in Education. After Graduating College,
he moved to New York City to pursue a career on the stage. He returned to New Haven to raise a
family and became a leader in New Haven Radio Broadcasting for most of his professional
career. He was Vice-President of Kops-Monahan Communication and General Manager of their
radio Stations WAVZ 1300 AM and KClOl. He spent the last part of his broadcasting career as
the General Manager of YBC (Yale Broadcasting Company). After retiring from broadcasting,
he was a real estate agent for Coldwell Banker Coast and Country in Guilford, CT.
If there was a "life of the party", it would be centered around Stan as he loved to tell his stories,
get into character and make everyone laugh. On a dare from friends, he once got Howard Cosell
on the phone by imposing as Mel Allen, by the end of the call Howard had invited his buddy
"Mel" out for drinks on Friday. He was known to make a cameo as Elvis or Sinatra, singing "My
Way" on occasion. If you couldn't get into that packed restaurant or show, somehow "Dr.
Stanley" would have a reservation or ticket to get in. What a lot of people don't know though is
that if you were down on your luck and needed some help, an "anonymous" source would somehow find a way to help.
In a house of boys, sports were all the rage and there was no greater love than the Boston Red
Sox in the Puzycki household. They were his team and a passion he shared with all his children.
2 World Championships in the later part of his life were a great reward for a life of dedication
and faith to his beloved Sox. However, it was the presence at his kids and grand-kid's games
that really brought out his fervor. Standing behind the plate, calling out to us boys, "watch that
inside breaking ball, you've got two strikes".
The Polish immigrant’s son grew into a great man. He could have been a movie star, an actor on
Broadway or left-fielder for the Sox. In our minds, he was all of these at times, but more
importantly he was our Dad, his most important role and it was our honor to be his sons.
Although he has left this life, we are comforted by the fact that he was welcomed into God's
eternal kingdom and reunited with his Mother, Ana and Father, John.
