Obituary of John R. Mathis

At home, Nov.30, 2010, John R. Mathis, 64, of Hurlburt Dr., East Haven. Beloved husband of Carol L. DeTullio Mathis. Son of Shirley Remillaro Mathis of Southington and the late Joseph M. Mathis Sr. Father of Jaime A. Mathis of North Haven. Step father of Lynn Jasaitis Matis of Branford and Andrea Jasaitis Macdonald of Vernon. Grandfather of Eva Mathis, Nathaniel Mathis, Jimmy Macdonald and Billy Macdonald. Brother of Joseph M. Mathis Jr. of Branford, Judith White of North Branford, Susan Martone of FL, Tracy Staroba of Milford and the late Christine Mathis Proto and Michelle Mathis. Also survived by several nieces, nephews , grand nieces and grand nephews. Born Sept. 20, 1946 in New Haven, he was a graduate of East Haven High School, class of 1965 and served a tour of duty with the US Marine Corp. He had been employed as a foreman for several area fencing and roofing companies. Friends may call at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Friday from 4 - 7 pm.
