Obituary of Helen Hasse

Helen Scholz Hasse passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010, at the age of 101. A
lifelong resident of East Haven, CT, she was born on March 20, 1909, and became
valedictorian of her high school class. She married William F. Hasse, Jr., and together
they raised two sons, William F. Hasse, III ("Billy"), and Robert G. Hasse ("Bob"). They
also were active members of the Old Stone Church and its choir. In 2000, Helen
published a book entitled "My Ninety Years in Church and Town." She was known to
many young people in the community as "Grandma Hasse." Preceded in death by both
her husband and her son Billy, she is survived by her son Bob, her daughter-in-law
Patricia, and her granddaughter Charlotte. Her family thanks the many friends and
neighbors who were kind to Helen.
A viewing will be held at Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, on
Thursday, December 2, from 4-6 p.m. A service will be held the next day, Friday,
December 3, at 10:30 a.m. at the Old Stone Church, 251 Main St., East Haven. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made in Helen's name to the Old Stone Church
