Obituary of Shirley Gross

In New Britain, October 1, 2010, Shirley Champlin Ayr Gross of Whalers Point, East Haven. She was the wife of the late William Ayr and Wayne Gross and mother of Robin DeMartino and her husband Thomas of East Haven and the late Jeffrey Ayr. She also leaves a granddaughter Marybeth Marino and her husband James and a great granddaughter, Gianna Marino. She was predeceased by a grandson, Thomas M. DeMartino and a brother, Herbert Champlin.
Mrs. Gross was born in New Haven, June 5, 1922, daughter of the late Herbert and Helen Malone Champlin. She was an employee of the former American Steel and Wire Co. an East Haven resident for many
years and a parishioner of St. Clare Church. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Clare Church, Wednesday morning at 9. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bret H. Chernik Amputee Foundation, P.O. Box 905, Suffield, CT 06078 or to a charity of one’s choice.
