Obituary of Olive K. Leissner

In Hamden, May 13,2010, Olive K. Gallo Leissner, 92, of Edward St., East Haven. Beloved wife for fifty six years of the late John J. Leissner. Loving mother of Kathleen DiMezza and husband Martin of Great Falls,VA and John J. Leissner Jr. and wife Elizabeth Sabusawa of Ashland,MA. Cherished grandmother of Irene DiMezza and Michelle D. Roseberry, both of Reston,VA. Dear sister of the late Blanche Lambert, Gloria Crisafi and Charlotte Spencer. Sister in law of Frank Crisafi of East Haven, William Spencer of Doylestown,PA and the late Bud Lambert.Beloved aunt of Sue Crisafi, Kathleen Histand and husband Darryl, Suzanne Brink and husband Dave, Edward Crisafi and wife Kathleen, Fran Crisafi and wife Kathleen, and Chuck Spencer and wife Kathleen.She is also survived by many grand nieces and nephews and was predeceased by a grand son in law Evan Roseberry. Born Sept. 5,1918 in New Haven a daughter of the late Edward C. and Irene McCarty Gallo, she was a graduate of Hillhouse High SChool in New Haven and the Stone Business College and was a lifelong resident of East Haven. Olive was employed for a time during WW2 at the Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co. and then worked for the SNET for many years. In her younger years she was a gifted professional dancer and was a member of the Rockettes performing at Radio City Music Hall in NYC. She was along with her husband John a longtime member of the Owenego Club in Branford and also the " Knights and Dames" Funeral from the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven, Tuesday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Vincent de Paul Church at 9:00. Burial will follow in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4 - 7 pm.
