My deepest sympathy on your great loss. As a teammate, I remember him as "Duber" at Southern. In a 1953 game against Central Connecticut State University (New Britain) at Bowen Field in New Haven, Duber was the QB and we were losing by a point near the end of the game. He had injured his knee and was sidelined in the last quarter. It was fourth and long and time was running out. Duber came to our coach, Jess Dow, who had just called a time out and convinced Dow that he could kick a field goal. Jess gave the okay. Duber limped onto the field and kicked the field goal to win the game! He limped off the field and was greeted by his extremely happy teammates. What a guy!
