Obituary of James W. Rockefeller

With broken hearts we announce the sudden passing of James W. (Rock)
Rockefeller, 64 of Stony Creek, CT on November 15, 2009. He was born in New York City on October 3, 1945. He is the son of David A. Rockefeller of Georgia and the late Geraldine (Robertson) Rockefeller. He is survived by the love of his life, Katherine (Kate) Waldron, her parents, Kay and Walter Waldron of East Haven and brother Thomas M. Waldron of Jamaica Plain, MA..Jim is also survived by a brother, Blair Rockefeller of Georgia and a niece, Michelle
Rockefeller of Vermont. He was predeceased by his brother, Graeme Rockefeller. He attended Alma College in Michigan and served in the U.S. Navy. He later joined the U.S. Coast Guard and proudly retired as Quarter Master First Class. At the time of his death, he was employed as Executive Vice President of East Shore Courier in Madison. Jim was a voracious reader, passionate gardener and talented chef who loved to cook for family and friends. He enjoyed reminiscing about Coast Guard experiences and his many travels. He will be remembered for his charismatic smile, warped sense of humor and kind and very big heart. His circle of wonderful friends will always cherish and remember him. His beloved pets, Nellie, Pearl, Lillian and Buddy, will sorely miss him. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Church of Christ Congregational in Stony Creek.
