Obituary of Christine J. Schiavone

Christine J. Schiavone, 90, of New Haven, East Haven and Enfield, passed away on Monday, May 29, 2017 in Enfield. Christine was born October 7, 1926 in New Haven, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Guarine) Nuzzo. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Sallyann Cooley (John) of Enfield and Barbara Civitelli (Frank) of Enfield, along with her seven grandchildren, Melody Espada (Angelo), Ralph Thomas (Tori), Marlene Thomas (Mark DiBella), Mark Thomas (Dana), Marcie Scalia, Erica Basile (John), and John Cooley Jr (Erin). Christine is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law Shannon Schiavone of Rocky Hill and three sisters, Anna Mleszko of New Britain, Jessie Altieri of East Haven, Marie Moore of New Haven and numerous nieces/nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lawrence Schiavone (1994), daughter Lorraine Schiavone (2015), son Frank Schiavone (2016), two grandchildren, Keith Thomas and Albert Jasuirkowski, along with eight of her siblings.
Christine is a long-time resident of New Haven, was born and raised in New Haven and stayed in New Haven for most of her life. She retired after 20 years working within the New Haven School System, ending her career at Fairhaven Middle School. While living in town, she was a frequent visitor of the New Haven Senior Center. She loved to bake, cook, sew and spend her days on the Connecticut Shoreline. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her grand and great-grand children. Christine was famous for her special pasta sauce and anginettes, all those who enjoyed them are hoping she left her secret recipes.
Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Saturday, June 3, at 8:30AM for a Mass of the Christian Burial at 9 AM in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church, East Haven. Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery, North Haven. The Schiavone family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Parkway Pavilion Health & Rehabilitation Center for their kind and compassionate care.
