Clare Gagliardi, 88, of New Haven passed away peacefully on April 18, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born October 21, 1928 in New Haven to William and Diamond (Surivanou) Pergamalis. Clare is survived by two sons, Robert T. Gagliardi (Nilda) of Branford and Peter William Gagliardi of New Haven along with four grandchildren, David Malick (Christina), Diane Malick (Orlando Arroyo), Robert Gagliardi, and Cynthia Gagliardi. She is also survived by her great-grandson, Michael Malick, son-in-law, John Malick of Branford, sister, Mary Gagliardi (Vincent) of New Haven and brother, Nick Pergamalis (Beverly) of Key Largo, FL. Clare is preceded in death by her husband, Peter Gagliardi (2012), daughter, Karen Malick and sister, Irene Bowe. Clare graduated from New Haven Commercial High School in 1946 where she received high marks in short hand. She worked at her godfather’s ice-cream parlor during high school. After marriage, while caring for her children, she worked at Edal Industries and waitressed at her husband’s restaurant. Clare was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoyed cooking and lovingly caring for her family. Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 8:30 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven with burial to follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Branford.
