Obituary of Rebecca Romprey
Please share a memory of Rebecca to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
The lights dimmed on Broadway, March 11, 2017 when Rebecca Romprey passed away at 42nd & Broadway in Manhattan. Rebecca was 21, born on February 4, 1996, from New Haven and attended University of New Haven. She is survived by her loving parents Pete and Dolly (Hopkinson) Romprey of New Haven and sister, Victoria Romprey. Rebecca is also survived by her maternal grandfather, David Hopkinson and his wife Grandma Theresa of Milford, Aunt Donna Kohl of Texas and grandfather, Kenneth Pierce of East Haven her uncle Jason Pierce of East Haven and her god parents Sandor and Lee Ruzsa of Mesa Az. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Katherine Pierce, paternal grandparents, Merry Carol Romprey and Arthur Cohen and Aunt Bonnie Crews-Allard.
Rebecca Romprey was a lover of life and a singer of songs. She attended the University of New Haven where she was studying business and her goal was to work in New York in the entertainment industry. She was a graduate of the Metropolitan Business Academy High School in New Haven CT. She worked at Hawley Lane Shoes and was a Fit Specialist.
Rebecca was a survivor. She lived life each day the way she wanted to, in a way that made her happy regardless of how other people may have viewed her. She made friends everywhere, it did not matter if you were younger or older, gay or straight she liked you for who you were and we cannot think of a single enemy our daughter ever made. Every acquaintance was a potential friend. And if you were her friend you had opportunities to see a New York show, go to the movies or just get out and enjoy what the world had to offer. She was game for anything and by 6:30 AM she had her shoes on and was ready to seize the day.
She was special not just because she was our daughter but because she had magic. No matter who you were if you met our girl you felt her energy instantly. Not in a fake way but in a way that drilled into your soul. Some of you know this and some of you now are feeling that hole open. Do not let her magic leave you. She was 21 but inside she was an old soul. She was our 80’s baby who loved her diesel Chevy Cruze, her family, friends, her cat Gabby, Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks, David Garrett, and Sting just to name a few.
She was just a girl who loved the city, making friends, meeting stars and getting autographs. Rebecca, everything that you were was enough. Ladybug, Ladybug, fly away home
