Mary Haeckel 66 of New Haven passed away January 27, 2017 at Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born July 2, 1950 to the late Anthony and Genevieve (Rak) Sumecki. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Charles Haeckel and two sons, Brian Haeckel (Kimberly) of Northford and Mark Haeckel (Nicole) of North Haven along with five grandchildren; Julia, Jake, Jason, Jessica and Devin Haeckel. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Sumecki (Michele) of Northford and sister, Marguerite Geltman (Peter) of Branford. Mary was a loving guardian to their nephews; Carle, Earle, Alan and Andrew Mock of Nebraska.
Family and friends are invited to meet and attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 11 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private. Funeral services are in the care of Clancy-Palumbo (Clancy Funeral Home) East Haven.
