Obituary of Peter J. Vorio

Peter J. Vorio 96 of East Haven passed away on January 21, 2017 at home surrounded by his family. He was born April 9, 1920 in New Haven to Pellegrino and Elvira (Vellaccio) Vorio. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dominic and Frank Vorio. Peter is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Antoinette (Izzo) Vorio and two loving daughters; Barbara Pendziwater of Branford and Janice Langella (Lewis) of East Haven along with four grandchildren, Anthony Pendziwater III, Peter Pendziwater, Alicia Esposito (John) and Allison Langella (Kelly). Peter is also survived by five great grandchildren; Aiden Esposito, Lily Esposito, Ava Langella, Avery Langella and Logan Langella, a brother, Michael Vorio (Helen) of North Haven, and two sisters, Catherine Vorio of North Haven and Rose Kozolis of East Haven and several nieces/nephews. Peter proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After that he married the love of his life Nettie. He worked for many years at Henry G. Thompson and the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was a volunteer and a member of the YMA Annex Club, St Clare Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He earned his High School Diploma in 2001 at the age of 81. He loved his family with all of his heart and will truly be missed. We would like to thank his current caregiver Mary and all of the caregivers before for providing him with excellent care. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Thursday, January 26 at 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Clare Catholic Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven with Committal and full Military Honors to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
