Obituary of Anthony Cacace
Please share a memory of Anthony to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anthony “Tony” Cacace 63 of East Haven passed away January 15, 2017 at CT Hospice. He was born May 1, 1953 in New Haven to Salvatore L. and Annette (DeSerio) Cacace. Tony is survived by his loving mother, Netti Cacace of East Haven, brother Salvatore Cacace of East Haven, nephew Salvatore Cacace III of East Haven, niece Christina Cacace of East Haven, Beatrice (Meeker) Cacace of Branford and special friends, Michelle Defeo, Pete Hawley and Joni Melillo.
Tony was a friend and mentor to many; he had been an avid fisherman since childhood, educating himself on many species of fish habitat, their locations, including an in-depth knowledge of the ocean temperature, wind speeds and of all aspects of the ocean. He was written about in magazines, and had won many fishing tournaments throughout his life. He was the true meaning of the word, “fish whisperer”. Tony took delight in every aspect of being outdoors with nature, the ocean, etc., and loved using his camera to capture photos of everything from flowers, landscapes, and all forms of wildlife.
Tony was rough on the outside and a teddy bear on the inside. He was a great and loyal friend, someone who would go out of his way to help in any way he could for the people he cared about. Some quotes from Tony, “when it comes to fishing, water temp doesn’t matter”, “it’s not raining on the fish”, “if the fish are there, they’ll eat anything (hot dogs, shoe laces and macaroni)”.
So, when you think of Tony, remember him on his boat, called the “Midnight Magic”, with his captain’s hat on, cigarette in his mouth, and a pole with a bucktail in his hand.
Family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 PM on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, (Clancy Funeral Home) 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private. “Tony, may there be smooth waters on your journey.”
