William Rohr 98 of East Haven passed away October 26, 2016 at Talmadge Park in East Haven. He was born February 4, 1918 in New Haven CT to Jacob and Elizabeth (Murphy) Rohr. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy (Kelsey) Rohr, step-son Edwin Hayden, brother Robert Rohr and sister Marion Cox Emmons. He was the last survivor of his immediate family. William is survived by grandson, Edwin Hayden, niece Judy Secondino, nephew Clifford Cox, many great nieces/nephews, longtime friend and caregiver, Kathy Giannone (Anthony) and honorary granddaughter Jessica Giannone. William was a proud US Army veteran of WWII and later retired from High Standard Mfg. in Hamden with over 38 years of service. Upon retirement, he worked and served as Sexton to the Old Stone Church in East Haven for 20 years. William enjoyed square dancing, being with his friends and serving as a member and being the founding father of the Riverside Fire Dept. and Riverside Boys Club. Friends will be received from 9 AM until the time of service at 11 AM on Saturday, October 29, 2016 in the Old Stone Church, 251 Main Street, East Haven. Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at East Lawn Cemetery. Funeral services are in the care of Clancy-Palumbo (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven.
