Obituary of Robert S. Ottenbreit
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Robert S. Ottenbreit 85, of New Haven passed away August 31, 2016 at Yale New Haven Hospital, St. Raphael Campus. He was born January 20, 1931 in New Haven to Stanley and Paranka (Stec) Ottenbreit. Robert is survived by his loving and caring sister, Nell Parisi of New Haven, a brother, Dwight Ottenbreit of New Haven, nephews, Robert Rice, Mark Parisi, Michael Parisi, George Ottenbreit Jr. and a niece, Neile Parisi along with numerous nieces/nephews. Robert is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth (Horrocks) Ottenbreit who passed away in April 2016 and siblings; Joseph Ottenbreit, Henry Ottenbreit, Anne Hoffman, June Wells, Emily Culliton, Mary Rice and George Ottenbreit(widow, Wanda Ottenbreit).
Robert served his country in the United States Army and spent two years in the Korean War and was discharged honorable. He spent his career doing what he loved as a Mechanical HVAC and Refrigeration Specialist. He was a Master at his trade. He worked for over 30 years as the Building Maintenance Supervisor at S.N.E.T and AT&T. He was a talented man who can fix anything and “MAKE” anything. His work ethic was unquestionable. He said he had to do a job RIGHT, and over if necessary until it was “RIGHT”. He loved the outdoors, bow hunting, shooting, and even snagged a Black Bear in his hunting days. Robert will be remembered most as a proud American who loved his country and his family. We express our deep gratitude to Bob’s compassionate care-givers Lori Kryzkij and Clara Nartey.
