John D. Vitali “John Nizz” 39 of East Haven passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2016. He was born June 17, 1977 in New Haven to Alan and Jacqueline (Higgins) Vitali. John is survived by his mother, Jacqueline Higgins of East Haven, fiancé, Kathy Hakalski of East Haven and three children; Jonnea Vitali, John Vitali and Jayden Vitali. John is also survived by his brother, Alan D. Vitali Jr. of East Haven and a niece, Tatiana Strickland. John is preceded in death by his father, Alan and maternal grandparents, Frank and Clara (Koob) Higgins. John Nizz was a loving father to his three children, who he adored. John loved spending time with his family and always had a smile on his face. He was a caring man who was kind and had a “big heart.” He enjoyed sports – he was an avid Raiders and Red Sox fan. John was a proud member and currently employed by the Construction and General Labor Union 455. Family will receive friends from 3 to 7 PM on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Friday, August 12 in St. Clare Catholic Church, 234 Coe Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
