Obituary of Edward Lee Streeto

Edward Lee Streeto 78 of New Haven passed away July 27, 2016 at CT Hospice in Branford after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. He was born January 19, 1938 in New Haven to Frank and Mary (Orifice) Streeto. Edward is survived by his six loving children; Michael Streeto of New Haven, Edward Streeto Jr. of East Haven, Joseph Streeto (Carol) of Clinton, Vincent Streeto (Sheryl) of East Haven, Victor Streeto of East Haven, Elizabeth Streeto of New Haven, five grandchildren; Michael Paul Streeto, Edward Streeto Jr., Jacquelynn Rankine, Brittany Streeto, Elisa O’Connor, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings, Ralph Streeto of East Haven, Robert Streeto of North Branford, Carmel Hitchcock (Gary) of East Haven, Patricia Streeto of North Carolina and Susan Streeto of East Haven.
Edward is preceded in death by his parents, wife of 58 years, Elizabeth “Betty” (Morro) Streeto (2014), sisters, Joan Mencum, Victoria “Pinky” Brancato and brother, Frank Streeto.
Edward was a US Army National Guard veteran and was formerly employed by Globe Ford, then served as Body Shop Manager at Mark Ford in Madison and Bob Thomas Ford in Hamden. Edward was known as the “crash man” and in 1969 he opened his own business, Streeto Auto Body, in East Haven. Edward had a passion for restoring classic cars and displaying them at car shows. He was a member of Connecticut Cruisers Classic Car Club. He was a Third Degree Knights of Columbus and proud member of the American Legion Post 89 in East Haven. Edward enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening and listening to music.
Family will receive friends from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home on Monday, August 1 at 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven with Committal to follow at East Lawn Cemetery, East Haven with military honors.
