Obituary of Theresa Santomasso

Theresa (Vellaccio) Santomasso, 96, of East Haven, passed away peacefully at home, on April 12, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born in New Haven on March 30, 1920, to Dominic and Josephine (DeChello) Vellaccio. She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband of 55 years, Hugo Santomasso (2001) and devoted son, Edmund Joseph Santomasso (2015). Theresa is survived by her loving and caring daughter, Antoinette Ventre (Philip) of Madison and daughter-in-law, Denise Santomasso (widow of Edmund). She is the cherished grandmother of Jeanine Marie McQueen (Kyle) and Edmund Joseph Santomasso Jr. She is also survived by sisters, Elvira DeLucia (Joseph), Josephine Savo (Dominic), Annette Cirillo (Vincent), and a brother, Dominic Vellaccio (Joyce) along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Theresa is also predeceased by her brother, Frank Vellaccio, sisters, Mary Pagliuca and Ann Rienzo and a cousin, Angela Gagliardi. Theresa was employed by the A.C. Gilbert Co., the Edward Malley Co. and for twenty years the Southern New England Telephone Co., retiring from SNET as an administrative assistant. She was a member of the Children of Mary of the Church of St. Donato, the Catholic Women's Association of New Haven, and an active member and former President of the Ladies' Guild of St Vincent de Paul Church. Family will receive friends from 4:15 to 7 PM on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Monday, April 18 at 10:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, Taylor Ave., East Haven with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
