Obituary of William Forslund

William Forslund, 93, of New Haven and East Haven passed away peacefully at Apple Rehab on April 4, 2016. He was born June 26, 1922 in New Haven to Fritz and Pauline (Kahlenberg) Forslund. He is preceded in death by parents, wife, Marie (Drexler) Forslund (2013), son, William Forslund and brothers, Frederick and Russell Forslund. William is survived by two loving daughters, Christine Cain and her husband John of New Haven and Patricia Macolino and her husband Ernie of Branford. William is also survived by three grandchildren, Christopher Forslund (Jennifer), Michael Goclowski (Angela), Elissa Goclowski, a great granddaughter, Brianna Forslund and a daughter-in-law, Jo-Ann Forslund. William was a US Army veteran of WWII and retired tool and die maker at Amity Tool Company. He was a former member of American Legion in East Haven and former member and President of Edgewood Club in Westville. William was a true family man; he was devoted to wife, family and friends. Family will receive friends 4 to 7 PM Thursday April 7, 2016 at the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home (Clancy Funeral Home), 43 Kirkham Ave. East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home on Friday, April 8 at 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 385 Townsend Ave., New Haven with Committal and Military Honors to follow at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven. The Forslund family would like to thank CT Hospice home care and the entire staff at Laurelwoods Apple Rehab in East Haven for their kind and compassionate care.
