Katherine Diaz 23 of West Haven passed away January 17, 2016 at the Yale New Haven Hospital. She was born August 21, 1992 in Ecuador to Holger Diaz and Jenny Villacis. Katherine is survived by her parents, loving husband, Romel Sarmiento and their infant son, Jayden Sarmiento. Katherine went to Derby Middle School and graduated from Platt Tech in 2010. She attended UConn in Waterbury and was completing classes at Gateway Community College. She performed with St. Rose of Lima dance and soccer team. Katherine was dedicated to her church, husband, Romel and son, Jayden. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Family will receive friends from 4 PM until the time of the Mass of Christian burial at 7 PM on Thursday, January 21, 2016 in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 115 Blatchley Ave., New Haven CT 06513. On Friday, family and friends are asked to go directly to Evergreen Cemetery, 769 Ella T. Grasso Blvd, New Haven for a graveside service at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jayden Sarmiento’s name, c/o Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave. East Haven Ct 06512 in memory of his mother.
