Louis C. Minuit, long time resident of East Haven, CT. passed away peacefully November 1, 2015 at CT Hospice. Over the past year and a half he fought a courageous battle with AML leukemia. He was born May 9, 1939 in New Haven to Arthur and Margaret (Nemit) Minuit. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Wrzesinski. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Roberta (Lloyd) Minuit and three children; Tina Minuit of Naugatuck, Marie Pietrandrea (Victor) of North Branford and Mark Minuit (Amy) of Guilford. Louis is also survived by seven grandchildren; Marcus, Niko, Jake, Sal, Louis, Lauren and Sarah and brother Arthur Minuit Jr. (Lisa) and sister-in-law Laura Wrzesinski, in addition to several nieces, nephews and their families. Lou lived his life to the fullest in the company of family and friends alongside his strong faith in God, in which he was a longtime member of the Holy Family Retreat center in West Hartford, CT. He enjoyed weekend trips to New York with his beloved wife as well as family trips to Vermont. He also had a passion for the New Haven Symphony and opera. At an early age, his interest in architectural design led him to a 40 year career as a Structural Engineer at Spiegel Zamecnik & Shah, Inc. in New Haven, CT. Lou was proud to serve his country in the United States Army. Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home on Friday, November 6 at 9:40 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church (Route 80 ) East Haven with Committal to follow at All Saints Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405 in memory of Louis C. Minuit. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Smilow Cancer Center as well as the CT Hospice staff who gave their time and care.
