Eleanor (Emerson) Sargent 88 of New Haven passed away March 24, 2015 at CT hospice. She was born December 11, 1926 in New Haven to George and Marie (Quill) Emerson. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, David A. Sargent Sr., brother, Frank Emerson and sister, Marie Brown. Eleanor is survived by son, David A. Sargent Jr. of Naugatuck, grandsons, Kendall Sargent of New Haven and David A. Sargent III and one great grandson, Kendall Hanratty.
Eleanor was an entertainer for most of her life. She did radio in the 30's and 40's, toured with the USO in the 50's and 60's, and worked locally with Al Gentile and his Orchestra until 1990, when she retired.
Family will receive friends from 6 – 8 PM Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Clancy Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Funeral procession will leave Clancy Funeral Home on Monday, March 30 at 11:15 AM for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Francis Catholic Church, Ferry Street, New Haven with Committal to follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in West Haven.
