Obituary of Ruth Wyllie

Ruth Wyllie 100 of East Haven, passed away October 24, 2014. She was born December 17, 1913 in New Haven to William and Maude (Baldwin) Bowden. She is preceded in death by parents, husband of 60 years, Walter Wyllie, two daughters, Nancy Badiali and Priscilla Wyllie, three grandchildren, Barbara Brody, John Badiali, Michael Badiali and a brother, Robert Bowden. Ruth is survived three loving children; Walter “Bud” Wyllie Jr. (Gayle) of East Haven, William Wyllie (Lucy) of East Haven and Karen Goodale (Ken) of East Haven. Ruth is also survived by grandchildren; Cindi Wyllie (Steve), Douglas Wyllie, Candance Montefusco, Dee Dee Wyllie, Diane Bensavage (Frank), William Badiali, Robert Badiali, Priscilla Spada (Jose), Paige Caye (Pete), David Wyllie, Ken Goodale (Tracy), Kyle Goodale, 31 great grandchildren, 15 great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and caregivers. Ruth was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary Local 1205 and 60 years in the Order of Eastern Star. She was a proud member of the Bradford Manor Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary for over 75 years. The fire dept. was an integral part of her life. For years, Ruth worked at the election polls in East Haven, always ready to serve her town. Known as “mom” to those many friends and neighbors of Momauguin, a proud “Momauguinite” for over 80 years. She was a constant source of advice and guidance to her family and extended family, truly the definition of a matriarch.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 28th at 10:30 AM in Trinity Episcopal Church, 210 Main Street, Branford. There will be no calling hours. Burial to follow at East Lawn Cemetery in East Haven. Donations may be sent to Bradford Manor Ladies Aux., 85 George Street, East Haven Ct 06512 in Ruth’s honor to support the pediatric burn unit.
