I am so sorry to hear about the loss of such a great man. Mic-Dev was by far one of the best coaches (and one of the nicest people) I ever had. I started my swimming career with him at ARAC when I was about 8 years old. To this day, I don't think I have had another coach that has believed in me the way he did. His passion and knowledge about swimming was priceless and has influenced me in so many ways that I wish I had realized earlier so I could properly thank him. Somehow he always knew how to get the best out of me, how to push me just a little bit more to get the results we were both hoping for. Not only did he care about what you accomplished in the pool, but he also cared about the person you were outside of the pool. I am so glad I got to spend some of my best swimming years with him. Because of him swimming remained a huge part of my life all the way through college and I am forever thankful. I will never forget.

Julie, Steve and the entire Diverniero family: Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time. Mic was an important part of our family. He guided and coached both of our children both at Paradise and ARAC. He was not only a coach but a friend to all. He had the greatest personality anyone could ask for, always getting you to smile. He is now everyone's angel watching us all and looking down to guide us. We feel very blessed to have known him and will think of him often.

MicDev was a beloved colleague and great mentor to me, from my earliest coaching days in the NUTMEG LEAGUE, through our lon
g association with CT Swimming. He was always the first to say hello, quick with a smile or to crack a joke. I so appreciated his acceptance and guidance to include this gal amongst "the good ole boys" band of coaches. I admired the ease with which he handled swimmers and parents alike. He will be missed, but well remembered. My thoughts and prayers are with you, his family. May your many happy memories together sustain you...it's how he would have wanted it.

Mic-Dev was a wonderful swim coach; like none other! He taught us about so much more than just swimming on those chilly, early mornings at PCC. We learned how to win humbly and lose gracefully, as well as come in first place through last place with a smile on our faces.
This man was full of spirit, energy and love for all of the children who were In his care. We are all better people for it today. I am saddened by his passing but happy to know he is at peace (hopefully on a beautiful eternal pool deck somewhere!). My heart goes out to Steve, and the rest of the family.
With deepest sympathy,
Kathy Mazzarella
