It is with a heavy heart, Arlene, that I write this. I knew something was up and it didn't seem good. Didn't see you at Smilow, didn't hear anything from the nurses. Joe was so sick the last few times I saw you two. I even went to Hospice to see if Joe was there. I am so sorry. He was so much fun, loved his humor, and sure loved you. This is the hard part of being a volunteer at Smilow -- I meet and make good friends and then they leave you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Joe's entire family. Thanks for the prayer card.

Lived a few houses away on Grove St, worked in the same supermarket, hung out a bit - you were a great guy.
Go in peace, Joey

A kind man with a smile on his face always. We remember him with his fishing pole on the rocks sitting for hours and not catching a single fish but just doing it for the joy & calm he received from it. Your presence at Victoria Beach will be missed. May your memory be eternal.

I am sad for the loss of my uncle, i wish i knew him better. I remember times when i was younger, he was a quiet, sweet man. I know he suffered in his last few months, but now he is in a better place and he gets to be with his parents in heaven. Tell them " i say hi, uncle joey." RIP. Love,
Danielle Sammarco

Joey had a glowing smile that was infectious,he could light up a room with his warm hello.
I'm sure he wouldn't want anyone to be sad, but rather rejoice in the many fun and dear years all his loved ones had with him. We're on the physical plane and do not stay forever, but love does go on. Spirits will reunite someday and his loved ones will feel complete happiness to be with him again.
My love and prayers go out to his Special friend Arlene, his Sons, his brothers Louis and John and the
rest of the Sammarco Family and friends.
Rest in peace Joey, you are on your last trip home.

Dear Arlene & Family, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Although I had not seen Joe in years, I thought of him often and considered him a friend for life. He was the Best Man at my Wedding to Bruce Larson. I'll always think of Joe as a kind, sweet and gentle man.
