Obituary of James Gambardella

In Florida, Feb.7, 2012, James "Dede" Gambardella, 80, of Sun City FL. Beloved husband of Lillian Ciancola Gambardella. Father of James Gambardella Jr. of Watertown, CT and Gary Gambardella of East Haven. Brother of Elizabeth Sullo of East Haven,Raphaela D'Angelis and Mary Sullo,both of Branford and the late Martha Cacace,Philomena Gambardella,Andrew,Dominic,Joseph,Anthony and Alphonse Gambardella. Also survived by four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Born Aug.30,1931 in East Haven a son of the late Dominic and Philomena Baldino Gambardella, he was a graduate of East Haven High School, class of 1948 where he was a gifted and well known athlete, playing football and baseball and later went on to star for the East Haven Rams semi-pro football team. In his later years he kept fit by playing tennis, golf and other activities. James was a decorated combat veteran of the Korean War and was retired from the Prudential Insurance Co., where he was an agent for many years. A memorial funeral Mass will be celebrated Sat. morning at 11:00 in St. Vincent de Paul Church, Taylor Ave., East Haven. Interment will be private.
